Fans of rival teams are very vocal, wishing to see Man City punished for the next decade and labeling the club as cheats. However, the real issue lies not with Man City, but with the Premier League, which has become a confusing and disconnected entity amid its rules and regulations.
The issue is that the Premier League has taken too long to complete their investigation into something that happened years ago. Man City have been allowed to compete and won trophies that they should not have won, if anyone had acted on this a bit earlier.
Fans of Arsenal, Man Utd, and Liverpool are the most vocal due to their near wins in domestic trophies. However, other clubs, like Everton, Forest, and Leicester, have faced severe consequences, especially in the transfer market, and have been treated unfairly by the Premier League. They wouldn’t have been punished as they have if the issues were addressed sooner.
Many outlets think they have the answers and report on various points deductions, fines, and transfer bans, but until things are resolved, no one truly knows what will happen. If these reports come from different leaking sources in the Premier League, the consequences could be serious.
This saga is expected to conclude early in the new year. Previous and current Man City players, as well as managers, has not said much. One who has is, Gareth Barry believing if found guilty, his former club should face punishment. Barry has a long history with Aston Villa and may be more connected to them than to Man City.
If an owner is found guilty of cheating on rules, it creates a major trust issue for fans, who often blame their leaders. This is clear in Leicester, where the fanbase is divided while the team sits mid-table in League One. They had genuine support from fans in the past, but wheh found guility of cheating and getting six points deduction last season, which resulted in a new relegation, fans are furious and the club is accordingly up for sale.

From a recent Football Insider report, they believe there’s no panic from Man City over these things. They still insist they have got irrefutable evidence that will exonerate them of all these charges. The appeal is ongoing.
The report also explore, that The Premier League are hoping to have that verdict on the appeal early in the new year, and then obviously the next steps after that will be what is the final decision of the appeal if you if they have got off the charges or not, or then obviously then it’ll be see what sanctions are possibly coming their way.
To have sources exclusively sharing this information makes it easy to believe there are many leaks, as Man City is reportedly facing a points deduction of 40 to 50 points for a single season. The Premier League wants to resolve the appeal before the season ends, given the potential impact on the final standings. Man City are also expected to face a longer transfer ban and a large fine, making them less competitive for several seasons.
It will be interesting to see what will come out of this when the final whistle is heard.
