Barry Bannan made a surprising switch when he joined Millwall from Sheffield Wednesday this January. He has so far been on the field for The Lions in three league games since joining on the 28th of January.
At the age of 36 he has signed an 18 month contract with a team chasing promotion to Premier League. We have never questioned the quality of Barry Bannan. He could also be on the mind of Steve Clarke as a potential player to bring to the World Cup.
He last played for Scotland in 2017, and to get back in would be sensational. He has so far managed 27 full caps, making his debut in 2010, 16 years ago. He has previously played in Premier League with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
In his time at Sheffield Wednesday, joining in 2015, he completed 435 league games, scoring 35 goals. His time at Millwall has been fantastic. Two wins and a draw so far. Millwall are in a play-off position, standing 3rd at the moment, just three points behind Coventry who are 2nd and in that direct promotion spot.
Barry Bannan is a shrewd move from manager Alex Neil. The way he has masterminded this Millwall team is just fantastic. The Lions are an example to follow, with a special ownership, being a hipster choice for foreign football fans on holliday, looking for something extraordinary.
Visiting The Den is extraordinary. The Millwall fans are also special and hardcore fanatical football followers. To sign Barry Bannan at 36 years of age is also something few would do, but to see Millwall do that was not strange.
Following Barry Bannan from his first years in the youth team at Aston Villa, later being under the coaching scheme of people like Martin O’Neill and John Robertson, and watching him back then. We had high hopes and possibly more stardom.
After an outstanding decade-long stay in S6, Barry Bannan has joined Millwall on a permanent transfer.

It will be special to follow the veteran on his special journey at Millwall. Not surprised if this will end in a promotion and then a return to Premier League for the Scottish international.
Steve Clarke is also a type of person who could come calling again. With the World Cup soon to arrive, what a comeback that would have been. We will wait and see if that happens.
There are a lot of special surprises in football, this is definately one of them.
