Savinho is a bright light in this Man City season. The 20 year old joined from City Group club Troyes in front of this season. He was recruited On 30 June 2022, Atlético Mineiro announced the transfer of Savinho to the City Football Group for a record €6.5 million, with an additional €6 million in performance-related variables. Savinho was initially assigned to Troyes, a Ligue 1 club within the City Group. Before his loan to Girona, another City Group team, he was loaned out to PSV.
Savinho had a grand season at Girona before his move to Man City. He has really shone as he progress to become the player who can serve Erling Haaland from the flank. At the age of 20 he is allready showing greatness.
Man City is in the middle of a generation change. Having too many players in the squad above 30 years of age is always a dilemma. Gundogan, De Bruyne, Ederson and Silva are four of nine players either on 30 or above. Three or four players, with a couple on the fringe, and two in the team should be ok. However, having more players will create difficulties with squad logistics at some point.
Strange to see Pep in this type problems, because he is such a great manager and planner. Adding youth might be a solution. Savinho is a great talent and hopes are he will be the next super star, he certainly have the abilities.

So far Savinho has so far played 21 Premier League games and scored one goal. He is on 7 assists. In total 2 goals and 9 assists. This is a fantastic tally and his contribution looks fantastic so far.
On 1 March 2024, Savinho got his first call-up to the Brazil senior team. This was for the friendlies against England and Spain. He made his debut against England on 23 March 2024, which ended in a 1–0 victory. On 28 June 2024, he scored his first senior goal for Brazil. The match ended in a 4–1 win against Paraguay in the 2024 Copa América group stage.
Pep Guardiola and Man City are in the middle of a squad transition. The recent signings of Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzales, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis are all very young. They are not finished articles at this level. Often such talent need strong and quality players in the team taking the responsibility during a period of time. This period is so crucial. It can take a season or maybe more for young players to grow into leaders. The level can be reached at 20 years of age if you are introduced to the first team at 18. If you are 26 you need shorter time and be ready at 27.
We will follow Man City cosely in the next two season. If Pep can elevate this to the next level, it will be his greatest achievement so far. Building a super team will add to his legacy. To lose Rodri this season, made it all impossible to have the stability needed to fight for the major trophies.
