Thomas Muller (34) reached a very special milestone today, playing his 700th competitive game for Bayern Munich counting all competitions.
The game itself was a real dipper, being defeated 2-3 away to Heidenheim, with two former players from Arsenal (Serge Gnabri) and Spurs (Harry Kane), scoring the Bayern Munich goals. Bayern had a 2-0 lead but could not hold on to it as Heidenheim scored three in 2nd half.
Thomas Muller joined Bayern Munich as a 10 year old, making his first team debut back in 2008, being given that honour by former great Jurgen Klinsmann.
Muller started the game out right for Bayern Munich, playing 84 minutes in this special event. but this will of course continue as Muller have signed a one year extension to his current contract.
This season has been a struggle, being 16 points behind Bayer Leverkusen at this point, but of course having focus on that Champions League quarter final vs. Arsenal, coming up this week starting away on the 9th of April, with a crucial return in Munich on the 17th of April.
Thomas Muller will most certainly play his part in these two massive games as Bayern are capable of winning and go all the way this season. On the perfect day, Thomas Muller and his teammates can defeat anyone. Manuel Neuer is out with a groin problem and uncertain, and if he is absent Muller will captain Bayern in the games vs. Arsenal, as he did in this recent defeat vs. Heidenheim.
Thomas Muller has so far won 12 Bundesliga titles, Champions League winner twice and runners-up on two other occasions. He is a World Cup winner, also having a bronze from the 2010 tournament. Reaching 700 appearances might be a milestone, but we feel Thomas Muller is looking forward to more and not thinking on happy memories at this moment.
