Jannik Vestergaard arrived at Leicester back in August 2021. almost three years later his life at the club can be described as a life in two halfs, and strange enough could everything come to an end in the summer.
He was never given a proper chance to shine under Brendan Rodgers, completing just 10 league games in his first season, not involved in the second and having a grand turn to life under Enzo Maresca.
He was last January closing in on a move to Hertha Berlin, but the fact that his wife was giving birth in this period of time, resulted in Jannik Vestergaard staying at Leicester for the time being.
He struggled to convince Brendan Rodgers about his talent and was often played directly wrong by the now Celtic manager. Often with players like Jannik Vestergaard you need to find a partner that suits him and also playing alongside players were they fit together having different attributes to their game.
Jannik Vestergaard was also exiled from training in the latter stages of Brendan Rodgers time in charge of Leicester, after giving an interview to the Danish press, questioning Rodgers judgement on him and not giving him any form of explenation for being freezed out of the team and squad.
The change during the summer and the fact that he was involved in the first team directly from the first game of pre-season and of course the foot injury of Conor Coady opened the slot to play regularly and together with Wout Faes building a nice and wll working relationship.
Jannik Vestergaard (31) is at his best at the moment, and under Enzo Maresca showing class and of course with a good pass and great distribution, a vital man in the patter of play under the Italian.
His good form has also given him the place back in the Danish national team, being part of the group the qualified for Euro 2024, were we also most certainly will be having other familier faces included. Mads Hermansen, Victor Kristiansen, Kasper Schmeichel are three other Leicester related players who most certainly will be part of their squad.
