Bio:

Sammels joined Arsenal, in 1961, the club he supported as a boy, from his family home in Grundisburgh near Woodbridge in Suffolk. He was a regular in the reserves and a successful youth international winning seven caps for England.

He joined Arsenal soon after fellow East Anglian Peter Simpson and played alongside him for several seasons. Jon scored on his first-team debut for Arsenal on 27 April 1963, against Blackpool. However, he only played sparingly — twice in 1963–64 and not at all in 1964–65 — and did not secure a place in the side until the departure of Geoff Strong, and later George Eastham.

Focus On; Sir Stanley Matthews

Sir Stanley Matthews CBE (1 February 1915 – 23 February 2000) was an English footballer who played as an outside right. Often regarded as one of the greatest players of the British game and one of the greatest players of all time, he is the only player to have been knighted while still playing football, as well as being the first winner of both the European Footballer of the Year and the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards.

Matthews kept fit enough to play at the top level until he was 50 years old. He was also the oldest player ever to play in England’s top football division (50 years and 5 days) and the oldest player ever to represent the country (42 years and 104 days).

Harry Winks to find life in Championship a blessing in disguise as his game needed a shift to return to form

Leicester made two pivotal signings in the summer, Conor Coady from Wolves and Harry Winks from Spurs. A bit of a surprise to see a player in his prime trying to get his game back on track by chosing a newly relegated team, but again a gain for Leicester.

Since the move happened, Winks 27, has not really looked back and played a major part in the success so far under new manager Enzo Maresca.
