Connor Roberts (28) is a player with a special life in football, seen at the highest level with Swansea City and Burnley, making the move to Turf Moor in 2021 for a fee of £2.5million.

So far this season he has played 11 games in Premier League and during the year also added 9 more caps to his name, playing for Wales.

He made his debut for Wales as far back as 2018, and since played 53 times for his country, and in this period being the squads for Euro 21 and World Cup 22. He operates mainly on the right back and has looked a certain member of the Rob Page set-up.

The first season at Burnley, 21/22 ended in relegation from Premier League, playing 21 league games that season. Last years Championship success getting promoted as winners with a huge gap to the next teams, gave Roberts the time to settle in, being involved in 43 league games in that special campaign.

He is part of a very special generation of Wales footballers as the country is on a good path at the moment, qualifying for most tournaments and having a group of solid players around. Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey has been the front figures, but you still need other players to fill in and a certain standard is needed to get into those finals, not just two grand stars of the game.

Hopefully Connor Roberts will continue his progress, despite having a difficult time at present with Burnley as they struggle in the bottom end of the table, and also missing out on a direct Euro 2024 direct qualification place, having to qualify via the play-off’s in March.

Finland will be their opponent and having this game at home should see Wales through to the next round as they could get a lucky draw and again be back in the best party.

Connor Roberts played for Wales in their previous game, a 1-1 draw vs. Turkey. He was out on the right flank, with three defenders behind him, probably also a place he will be in when taking on Finland.

Connor Roberts must be excited to be involved at both club and country, seeing him as the claret dragon on a special mission, trying to qualify for the Euro’s as well as being part of a plan to save Burnley from relegation, both tall orders, but it could of course happen and then become two very special happenings to take place.
