Both his manager at Leicester, Brendan Rodgers and former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has said their words in front of the season coming up. His performance vs. Hull was just a wake up call for Gareth Southgate who has so far ignored the Leicester midfielder in his earlier selections.
Of course Brendan Rodgers likes his player and knows how he will be better as his pre-season has been a good one so far, reporting back among the first players and seen doing practise work all summer long.
Harry Redknapp has been quoted expressing fondly how he would have picked James Maddison every day of the week if he was to select the England team. Leicester looks unlikely to be willing to sell their star man and for him getting into the England squad it might be no idea to move on at this point.
Maddison joined Leicester from Norwich back in 2018 and has since his £20million move been a pivotal player for Leicester as they have been in Europe for the last two seasons, picked up a FC Cup winners medal and of course this one special cap for England.
His form looks top and he is well balanced with his family around and of course being a man getting as much football as he likes being that special man for Brendan Rodgers.
Leicester will start at home vs. Brentford and still has a few games to play to prepare with a special and top quality event vs. Sevilla at home as the last of their pre-season. Certainly we will be looking forward to see James Maddison against this top quality team.
