Listening to different experts talk about Manchester City and their possible fine, the whole situation just feels up in the air. The experts are being vague as usual with their guesses, clearly worried about saying something that could get them sued over such a complicated case.
These allegations go back more than ten years, and there’s no sign that anything wrong is happening now. The club’s in good shape and sustainable, bringing in more revenue and building a really promising foundation.
These are claims about sponsorships not lining up with Premier League rules, and about players or staff getting paid by outside parties for work that doesn’t really match the pay they’re getting.
Former Man City manager Roberto Mancini is one mentioned in the notes, as being payed heave sums for doing very little job for other parties, so the total wage package was not payed by Man City.
It will be very difficult to land this situation, despite prejudgement from other clubs, fans of other clubs and media doing what they can to build a picture of a super villain.

Man City should be treated as innocent until there’s an actual decision. They’ve already managed to stay in European competitions, and because they own other football clubs as part of their investment network, there are loads of different angles and scenarios in play. It’s still likely to be a really tough case, but hopefully everything comes out in the open and they get a fair trial.
The vultures are already circling close by, hopefully not getting anything to eat before it’s clear what the outcome will be. Man City will no doubt fight this all the way, so closing the book on this saga could take a while if the club is found guilty by the governing body.
