Manchester United staged an incredible European comeback. They rallied to beat Lyon 7-6 on aggregate in their Europa League quarter-final. The Reds initially took a 2-0 lead. Then, they suffered through four unanswered Lyon goals. They recovered for a dramatic 5-4 win in extra time.
If the Harry Maguire header that KO’d Lyon was a last, heroic act, it should clang alarm bells. Ruben Amorim oversees a fragile unit. This situation should cause a serious reality check.
The emergency roles for Maguire and Mainoo highlight the poor construction of the squad. It contains only two centre-forwards. Zirkzee is injured and is a more natural No 10. Højlund, on the other hand, lacks service from Amorim’s dysfunctional side.
Manchester United are 14th in Premier Leauge and far from their standards. They have a massive climb to enter, but still the dream of winning a title this season goes on. Winning Europea League will give you a place in next season Champions League tournament.

Andre Onana made a good application yesterday to still be counted as the clubs number one goalkeeper. But still the hunt of a new number one is a priority it seems.
Ugarte, Dalot, Bruno, Mainoo and Maguire were the goalscorers vs. Lyon. They are all brilliant footballers, but in some way this Man Utd team has major faults. The build of this unit is still far from settled. However, in single games, they can sometimes beat the best.
Website Goal.com made their match player ratings yesterday with the following outcome. Harry Maguire seen as their best player, getting a 9. Casemiro being rewarded 8. Onana on the count of 7. They are all players often being critisized. Casemiro, Onana, and Maguire are currently uncertain about their future at the club. However, they were the three best players yesterday.
