England are through to quarter finals in the 2024 Euro competition. We have seen too much negativity towards the England players, and no focus on what they have done defensively, believing this group of players are not doing what they are supposed to.
John Stones (30) do have some interesting stats to bring forward as he looks the best defender in the tournament so far, not really getting any credit at all for his fantastic defensive record.
The fact that he is almost impossible to pass with a dribble, coming up against him one against one, talks more, than any word from those not really focusing on anything else than the attacking game, which of course do have it’s limits so far, but still Harry Kane has two goals in four games, the same tally as Jude Bellingham.
Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier and Marc Guehi has been the trusted back four. John Stones is the leader and of course having grand experience, with Walker and Trippier showing their worth as the team manage to jump the hurdles.
John Stones made his England debut as far back as 2014, 10 years later still going strong and being that talisman everyone are calling for when results are going in your favour.
He is a player, trusted by his club manager, Pep Guardiola and also been given chances in the midfield area, showing he is capable of adapting in several positions. Will be interesting to see the Champions League and Premier League winner, also being able to possibly lift a trophy for England.
Switzerland comes next as recent reports of a possilbe knee injury hopefully will be mended in time to be part of this very important game. Without John Stones, you would probably not have the same solid defensive unit, fingers crossed he will be available.
