Diogo Jota is set to return to action for Liverpool as the 27 year old has shown over the last few seasons what a fantastic asset he is to Jurgen Klopp and his “Red Machine”.

To see him close to ready and potentially available for this team will add a special quality and depth, so hopefully a chance to see him in action vs. Atalanta.

In a period out of action he has also been drawn into the newspaper headlines with his transfer to Liverpool from Wolves being paid in full, as they look free and in guidence with law and regulation at The Molinuex.

The accounts for the Premier League clubs are published, and that it happens earlier than before because of the Premier League’s “Profitability and Sustainability” rules.

A club cannot lose more than £35m per season – or £105m over three years.

Wolverhampton are a club that have been cautious in the transfer market, and that may have been one of the reasons why Julen Lopetegui left Wolves six days before the league opener, with former Liverpool Under-21 assistant Gary O’Neil coming in and doing wonders for the squad.

With the numbers Wolves have registered, they are not going to risk a points draw. Only Nottingham Forest and Everton do that.

One of the reasons they stayed in is that they have now been paid everything they could have been paid for the sale of Diogo Jota to Liverpool in September 2020. Every single clause has now been paid, for a player who has struck for full at Anfield. According to the BBC, that will take his transfer fee to £50m.

Liverpool had to be creative when they bought Jota during the corona pandemic with uncertain finances, getting a deal where they only paid £4.5 million for him in the first 12 months. The sum would then rise to £41 million, and potentially £45 million if all clauses kick in. Why the BBC and the figures now show that the sum ended up at £50 million could possibly be about currency and euros.

Diogo Jota was in fantastic form for Liverpool, scoring 14 goals in 28 games for the Reds this season before he was unfortunately injured in February. He is set to return to the final games of the season with his expertise being well needed, going into these massive final weeks of the football season.
