Victor Lindelof had during his early days in football, been seen as a special talent, getting into the first team at Vesteras SK as a teenager and of course spotted by a number of clubs in Europe, deciding to join Benfica in 2012.
He joined Manchester United in 2017 for a fee €35 million, possibly another €10 million to paid as different criterias were reached. €3 million was also paid to his Swedish club Vesteras SK.
Lindelof made his full international debut in 2016, being part of the u21, u19 and u17 teams, adding up a total of 25 caps at those levels, and to date 64 caps and today also the captain of the national team.
He has to date played 177 league games for Manchester United, showing a total to date of 256 games in all competitions. A few up’s and down’s along the way, but he has kept his head down and fought on to convince every manager that has walked in and out that he is one to keep.
Manchester United has since his arrival played in a number of finals and great games, but not really coming close to those major PL and CL trophies. He has won one major trophy while at Old Trafford, being part of the squad that won last seasons EFL Cup. He has this season been on the field in 18 league games, and in total played 25 in total.
He has for next weeks internationals been called up by new Sweden national team coach, Jon Dahl Tomassen. Speculations are of course many since the Dane came in, to take over from Janne Andersson, after a lot of different candidates being linked with this special position. One topic is if Victor Lindelof will keep the captaincy or another player will be handed the armband, we will have to wait and see.
Victor Lindelof has shown that he can cope with struggles and that he is real warrior and fighter and when closing in on his career probably be seen as a well liked player among fans of this fantastic football club, being probably the most iconic on the planet earth.
The best of luck to Victor Lindelof on his next chapters in the game, he is far from his final as many years looks to be in front in a career that so far looks one many would envy.
