Bojan Djordjic used to play for Man Utd and Rangers, beeing seen as a highly talented winger at the time he was part of those settlements. Injuries and being on the fringe, never did see him fulfill his talent with the giants.
He was at Man Utd from 1999 to 2005. Although being considered a budding talent, having been awarded the club’s Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year Award at the age of 18, he only made two competitive appearances for the club.
He was born in Belgrade, but moving to Sweden, he represented them at u17, u19 and u21 level, being capped 44 times, but never played at full international level.
He had a number of loan spells while at Old Trafford, playing at places such as Sheffield Wednesday, AGF and Red Star Belgrade. All of them loan spells, giving Bojan Djordic valuable experience, which at that point was seen as a step to become a regular first team player at Manchester United. His relations were broaden and football wise, giving him new acquaintances. He had represented three new clubs at other places, giving him a picture of the game outside Old Trafford, and hopefully bridging up to his BP days.
He moved to Rangers in 2005, and in real an exciting place to go, joning a new champion club. Alex McLeish was in charge at Ibrox. Despite just having a few months up north, he became a Scottish league winner, playing 4 league games in the 04-05 season. His journey in the game became a bit different that he would probably have thought. He never really managed to settle at the levels he played at. Certain moves were made to clubs probably a bit below his standards and when going into other more competitive environments, not able to tie down a regular starting position.
But still looking back on a career lasting 18 years, he played more than 250 league games, picking up league winner medals with Red Star Belgrade, Rangers, AIK and Videoton. He is a top tier league winner in four different countries.
Bojan Djordjic (42) moved from playing to becoming a pundit. He has for many years worked for Viasat as an expert and also from 2021 been involved with MUTV, seen as one of the most outspoken and well informed in his trade.
The fact that he has a massive net of contacts, is very well informed about most matters regarding players, teams and of course knows the elements this game is build on, a master of juggling words in a very convincing manner, and also having that deep interest in a complete picture, makes him special in every way.
We all know from his playing days that he had his challenges, as described above, not really finding his ideal place for his level, but that said, having all of this knowledge also in the bag, you have a pundit of special skills. Bojan Djordic’s goal for Man Utd in the 2001, 2-0 friendly win v. Celtic, speaks for it self, being in there with the very best players of that era.
Watching the post match talk with Janne Andersson after the 5-0 win vs. Azerbaijan, makes another picture as Bojan Djordjic makes it clear he wanted answers, and in a way hits the trigger with a number of difficult questions and shows that he still are not affraid to confront, who ever they are, with difficult questions, and then again being involved in an episode that in itself never became a positive.
Too much, too little or just the perfect expert, he is the full package, Bojan Djordjic.
