Kalvin Phillips made his name at Leeds and he pushed himself into the England frame as Marcelo Bielsa nursed his talent forward. Since moving to Man City in 2022, his struggle for game time has really affected his form and ability. Strangely both him and Jack Grealish looks to be overlooked by Pep Guardiola as the subs bench became the most commen place.

The move to West Ham came at a crucial time and everyone looked forward to see Kalvin Phillips back in action as the 28 year old hopefully would gain fitness and become a regular first teamer again.

But things could have started a lot better as West Ham have struggled since Kalvin Phillips came in, been involved in four games, one draw and three defeats.j

He was also very unfortunate to be red carded in his last game and is now out with suspension. He can return to action after the Brentford game, taking place today, Monday.

His form at Leeds was phenomenal, but his injury list is a difficult one, both from his time at Elland Road also having problems when at Man City. Hopes are high that David Moyes will be able to get the best out of him and surely have confidence in him playing him from start in all of the games so far, despite changing his team and set up to get Phillips in.

Two starts and two games coming off the subs bench is the answer at this point, just one point, but still we certainly hope he will get back in and cement a place in the England squad for the Euro’s coming up.
