A family affair likely not based on “The Wild Duck” as footballer Hjalmar Ekdal builds Burnley defensive act

For most and especially theater lovers, Hjalmar Ekdal is a character in Henrik Ibsen’s play “The Wild Duck”. This was first launched as far back as 1884, four years before the foundation of The English Football League. Strange and fun to see, Hjalmar Ekdal making his debut in the league so many years later, signing for Burnley in January 2023. He has probably little or nothing to do with Hjalmar Ekdal we know from the play, said to be a photograph and a fiction, far from real.

The father of Hjalmar, the footballer, is a known Swedish journalist and tv presenter named Lennart Ekdal. The brother of Hjalmer is also a footballer, his name is Albin Ekdal, a proven Swedish international, with 70 caps. He has at 34 years of age, returned to play for Djurgaarden, after a long career in different European countries, latest playing for Spezia in Italy.

Jack Cork from England limelight to the Turf Moor shadows as 34 year old midfielder still should be rated at Premier League level

Burnley came back from a season in the Championship, cruising through as Vincent Kompany looked the best appointment done to bring The Clarets to a safe and sound position back in Premier League.

Things have turned out so different, but still there are individuals around with a grand experience of top level football, one of them is 34 year old midfielder Jack Cork.

Sean Dyche leaves Burnley with Norwegian candidates mentioned as possible new men to lead the line

Burnley are at the moment without a manager and has given Michael Jackson a chance to lead in the interim period to a new manager is found with the position probably not settled before the end of the season.

The start for MJ was a pleasent one and a draw away at West Ham is no bad result, but wins are needed to get out of the mess.
