In Focus, Aaron Ramsdale, AFC Bournemouth

A player snapped up by Eddie Howe from Sheffield United back in Aug 2017. A player who spent his youth years at Bolton Wanderers. Aaron Ramsdale is a name worth to mention as he has entered the Premier League stage this season.

After Ramsdale was signed by Bournemouth he went on loan first to Chesterfield in 2018 and then to AFC Wimbledon in 2019. He made steady progress and showed the promise needed to convince Eddie Howe to give him the first team gloves at Bournemouth this season.

Artur Boruc is still at the club, but now in 2nd line behind Ramsdale. Asmir Begovic left The Cherries after last season and instead of using millions of pounds on a new first team goalkeeper, Ramsdale got his chance and so far looks as a grand choice.

He has kept the gloves in all games, as Bournemouth are standing 10th in the Premier League after 8 games played, and his reward was to play for the England U.21 in their hammering of Austria, winning 5-1.

Aaron Ramsdale is 1,88 and a well build goalkeeper and to be fair looking a bit like Manuel Neuer in his goalkeeping style. The Bayern Munich and Germany first choice is among the best in the World and to be compared with him is not bad.

Jordan Pickford is currently the England first choice but we believe that Aaron Ramsdale will be in line for a step up as Gareth Southgate will be in need of quality behind the Everton man, and to see more English goalkeepers coming through is just great.

A nation with a proud goalkeeper tradition from the World Cup winning Gordon Banks, but to be honest not really managed to bring forward World class talent after Peter Shilton and Ray Clemence retired. With Ramsdale they could have a new fantastic goalkeeper in the making, still young, and not more than 21 year of age.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has shown in the past that he can really be able to spot those coming great and pushing his “unknowns” to their next level and beyond. Callum Wilson, Josh King and Ryan Fraser are just a few that has taken the Premier League with storm and also being integral for their nations at full international level.

When Ansu Fati, Barcelona getting approval from his parents, made his debut, he was in reach of records suddenly breaking one after one. The rocket start of his first career in the Barca first team is just as remarkable as the kid himself.

He is born in Bissau-Guinea moved to Sevilla in Spain at the age of six, and from there moving to Barca’s La Masia at the age of 10, taking the steps one by one, scoring goals in massive tallies in his rise to being signed professionally this summer.

His debut is streamed around the World, and when becoming Barca’s youngest ever goalscorer at senior level and also slotting a new record when he assisted De Jong and scored a goal in the same game v. Valencia, and by that being the youngest in La Liga to so. He is also the third youngest player to have scored a goal in La Liga.

He also have two brothers who are footballers and attached to Barcelona so maybe he will get company from his family as the years moves forward. He has not yet played for any national team as both Portugal and Spain are waiting for his decision.

So far two goals in three first team outings, this looks as a “special one” as the game areĀ  moving forward and a big generation switch looks like happening seeing so many youngsters coming through at the same time.

The 16 year old operates mostly as a winger, but with the way most teams are trying to play at the moment, becomes a striker, and often seen going for goals as that trend is to keep the top forwards in motion and changing positions.
