Arsenal Celebrates Champions League Victory Over Barcelona

The winning goal came a quarter of an hour before the end. Beth Mead cleverly passed through to Blackstenius, who sent the ball into the corner to wild cheers. The Swede was replaced by Frida Maanum ten minutes earlier.

Barcelona has three titles since the first in 2021. The Spanish giants were favourites in Lisbon, but Arsenal held firm and eventually scored the decisive goal. Arsenal have two Champions League titles. In 2007, Swedish Umeå were beaten in the final. Since then, Arsenal have not come this far.

Elise Thorsnes again making headlines as a previous private special entertained more than women soccer fans

Norwegian international, Elise Thorsnes (36), made the headlines for special reasons, 11 years ago. A picture of a sports injury in a somewhat intimate place, was highly noted. The picture she posted of herself on Twitter, was all over in different media channels and received great attention.

This is probably a bit unfair, to just remember her for this, since she has a proud and grand career in the game and still perform at the highest level for Vålerenga.

Swedish Women make their mark from Sundhage via Schelin to Seger as Olympic blow will not stop unique progress

Sweden did not qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, being the silver medalist in the previous two events. A new generation is under way to take over from 240 capped wonder women Caroline Seger, top goalscorer Lotta Schelin and a number of other unique players in their teams of the past.

Sweden won the Bronze medal in the last World Cup, taking place in Australia last year, with a number of strong placements in earlier tournaments.
