Sweden World Cup Squad Questioned by Certain Critics as Graham Potter Judgement Made

Sweden surprised everyone by qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. While known for its football heritage, its participation in this tournament was not guaranteed. This marks Sweden’s 13th appearance in the World Cup. Graham Potter, appointed “Forbundskapten”, as late as last October, made crucial changes to the set up of former chief Jon Dahl Tomassen.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s final game managing the Sweden national team was a 1-0 defeat to Kosovo in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on October 13, 2025, at Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg.

The Zone, Soccervoice Podcast, World Cup Focus, Theme and Stadiums

We are getting closer and closer to the opening of the 2026 World Cup. 48 teams competing in what will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be jointly hosted by sixteen cities—eleven in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. The tournament will be the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted by three nations, and the first to include 48 teams, an expansion from 32.

Soccervoice has introduced a new podcast feed called “The Zone.” Videos will regularly be added, full of interesting and special talk for a devoted football fan. The first video is one calling you on all the stadiums used in this World Cup tournament.
