Focus On; Frank Stapleton

Francis Anthony Stapleton (born 10 July 1956) is a retired Irish football player and manager. He is known for playing at Arsenal and Manchester United and for the Republic of Ireland national team. He also managed Bradford City and the MLS team New England Revolution.

Stapleton was a notable centre forward, once considered one of the best in his position and known for his powerful heading ability. He began his career with Arsenal in 1972 as an apprentice after Manchester United rejected him. He made his first-team debut in March 1975 against Stoke City and developed a strong partnership with Malcolm Macdonald, scoring 46 goals together in the 1976–77 season. Stapleton was Arsenal’s top scorer for three seasons and helped the team reach three FA Cup finals, scoring in the 1979 final, where Arsenal won 3–2 against Manchester United. In total, he scored 108 goals in 300 appearances for the Gunners.

Focus On; David Seaman

David Andrew Seaman (born 19 September 1963) is a retired English footballer who was a goalkeeper. He played from 1981 to 2004, mainly for Arsenal. Seaman earned 75 caps for England, making him the third-most capped goalkeeper, along with Joe Hart, behind Peter Shilton and Jordan Pickford. In 1997, he received the MBE for contributions to football and was nominated for the 1998 Ballon d’Or. He is also one of the few players with over 1,000 career appearances.

Seaman started his football career with Peterborough United, Birmingham City, and Queens Park Rangers. He became famous as Arsenal and England’s goalkeeper in the 1990s and early 2000s. At Arsenal, he won three league titles (1991, 1998, 2002), four FA Cups (1993, 1998, 2002, 2003), the League Cup in 1993, and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1994. He also represented England in the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups, as well as Euro 96 and Euro 2000. After leaving Arsenal, he played for Manchester City in the Premier League and retired in 2004 due to a shoulder injury. In June 2012, he became the goalkeeping coach for Wembley, a Combined Counties League club.

Focus On; Hugh Curran

Hugh Patrick Curran (25 September 1943 – 2 September 2026) was a Scottish footballer who played as a forward and spent the majority of his career in the English Football League. He played in five full international matches for Scotland between 1969 and 1971.

Curran began his career at Home Farm when his family moved to Dublin in 1954. After 6 years playing at all grades he moved to Shamrock Rovers to gain experience. After a period as an apprentice at Manchester United he was released and returned to his native Scotland with Third Lanark as a semi-pro where he struggled to see much first team action, instead joining Corby Town.

Spotted by Millwall, Curran signed professional forms at The Den in March 1964. Finishing his first full season with 19 goals, he was the club’s leading scorer as they won promotion from the fourth tier in 1965. This proved to be his only full campaign for Millwall, as he moved to Norwich City in January 1966. Serving the Carrow Road club for three years in the second flight, Curran scored 53 goals in total and was voted their player of the year in 1968.
