Lionesses end the Matildas’ run to reach the Women’s World Cup final for the first time and set up a clash with Spain.

England have reached their first Women’s World Cup final after a 3-1 victory over Australia, despite a wonder goal from Matildas striker Sam Kerr as the co-hosts’ fairytale run came to an end. Attacking midfielder Ella Toone gave England a first-half lead on Wednesday, but a stunning strike from captain Kerr, making her first start of the tournament, squared things up after half-time as Stadium Australia erupted in euphoria.

Norway in difficulties as crucial game vs. Philippines will decide further World Cup hopes

Norway are not among the favourites to win this 2023 World Cup tournament in Australia and New Zealand, but they do have a team that could go far, with the qualities they possess.

Experienced coach Hege Riise, once herself a World Cup winner back in 1995, do have a grand final vs. Philippines to hopefully be able to fix a win, should be more than possible.

Alan Smith on Leicester City: Hopes for the season, Vardy rejecting Saudi Arabia, Coady & Winks additions + Harvey Barnes

Football icon Alan Smith has been discussing his former club Leicester City. The former England international expressed his wish for Leicester to return to the Premier League at the first attempt of asking. He said: “I hope Leicester can bounce back. Leicester has always been that yo-yo club historically. In recent years the club has achieved some incredible things, winning the title and FA Cup, but when I played for them, they were always up and down. Hopefully they can return to the Premier League next season.” As part of a wide-ranging interview, Smith also praised Jamie Vardy for rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia, assessed the capture of Connor Coady and Harry Winks and discussed Harvey Barnes’ future.
