We are getting closer and closer to the opening of the 2026 World Cup. 48 teams competing in what will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be jointly hosted by sixteen cities—eleven in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. The tournament will be the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted by three nations, and the first to include 48 teams, an expansion from 32.

Soccervoice has introduced a new podcast feed called “The Zone.” Videos will regularly be added, full of interesting and special talk for a devoted football fan. The first video is one calling you on all the stadiums used in this World Cup tournament.

Remembering the First MLS Season: Key Players and Teams

It had been 12 years since the NASL went out of business. We all had great memories of the circus, featuring stars of all ages and nationalities.

1996 was the first MLS season. We all hoped for the same circus to return. The changes were also welcomed. This league was associated with FIFA. That was not the case of the NASL, having other rules regarding offside. They also had special shoot outs, not accpeting games to end in draws.

One attraction in the MLS in that first year was actor Andrew Shue. Los Angeles Galaxy signed him. He had previous life in soccer, but most of us knew him from the popular TV show, Melrose Place.

EXCLUSIVE: Rene Higuita defends James Rodriguez: ‘He doesn’t need to show his ability’

The historic former goalkeeper of the Colombian national team, and Atletico Nacional idol, Rene Higuita, analysed the current situation of the Colombian national team under the command of Nestor Lorenzo, the criticism of James Rodriguez, and shared who his favourites are for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

On September 6th, the ‘Scorpion’ will be 31 years old. On that same day in 1996, Rene Higuita pulled off an acrobatic save against England that needs no description. The football world knows it by heart, as does everything the Colombian did to revolutionise the job of the goalkeeper.
