Legendary BBC Sport Commentator John Motson Dies at 77

John Motson, the legendary BBC football commentator, has died at the age of 77.

The BBC reported his death on Thursday morning. It follows his 50-year career with the corporation as one of its most distinguished sports broadcasters.

In a statement, his family said: “It is with great sadness that we announce that John Motson OBE died peacefully in his sleep today.”

Known as “Motty” to his admirers, Motson was at the mic for 10 World Cups, 10 European Championships and 29 FA Cup finals before he retired in 2018.

You played at United in the clubs most successful period, winning a whopping 16 trophies over a 13-year period. Can you describe the pride you felt in winning all those trophies with your boyhood club?

Erik Ten Hag has put his own formula on and brought players back down to basic.

United have been so improved under Ten Hag, why has he managed to get them going so much quicker than Ole, Jose, LVG etc?
I think previous managers have contributed to the reason why Ten Hag has turned Man United around so quickly.

To do it as quickly as he did is a credit to him and a credit to his directness. He hasn’t been stubborn but he’s been strong in the way he wants to implement his philosophy with the levels of energy in every game.
