Chelsea did the unexpected last season and after the sack of Frank Lampard and the appointment of Thomas Tuchel no one looked back and the way the German and former Paris boss leaded the way, made this band look like one that would really be seen as favorites of most competitions next season.
But again cleverness when taking over from another manager and to bring your own train forward is a bit of two different jobs and the first lap of this long run must be seen as a genious act. Players reallly bought every idea introduced by the new man and he knew he had a great group of players to his disposal.
Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were both signed by former manager Frank Lampard, but to get a German boss in was probably not the worst that could happen for the two relatively young players and they became key players for Thomas Tuchel.

Jorginho had a fantastic Euro’s and also Emerson came back with a winners medal, both players are of course full of confidence and hopefully will they be contributing next season. Jorginho has been brilliant for Chelsea alongside N’Golo Kantè and Mateo Kovacic being great alternatives in this very special and unique squad.

Mason Mount and Reece James were also in the England squad and they are ready for a new season and will get more experience and are young and very promising players.
Olivier Giroud left Stamford Bridge this summer and joined AC Milan, and to see the 34 year fringe man leave was probably not very surprising, but to see a return for Romelu Lukaku came as a surprise with Tammy Abraham allready available, but then he might be pushed out the door.
Lukaku (28) has done well at Inter who looks to sell out and let a number of players leave as they are looking for a new approach and with a fee of £100 million on the table, would be foolish to turn down and as we know Lukaku has a bit of a up and down experience from Premier League, doing well with Everton and a bit of a struggle at both Chelsea and Man Utd, not really setting much on fire.
Some believe and rightly so that Lukaku has been a better player after his success with Inter and of course that has been showed, though looking in the mirror you haven’t seen him playing at the very highest level in Europe and with Belgium not being able to stop Italy, so he has a lot to prove.
Embed from Getty ImagesThoughts are that Chelsea will do more business and so far the only player to have stepped in the door at Stamford Brdige is cover choice goalkeeper Betinelli arriving from neighbour Fulham. Not one that we believe will be much involved in first team affairs.
Looking at the departurers there are a number of them, Tomori, Giroud, Moses, Gilmour, van Ginkel, Pantic, Brown and Blackman are all pushed out, all of these names departed in full except Gilmour who has joined Norwich on a season month loan. So there are gaps to fill and one or two more players together with Lukaku is expected to arrive before the transfer window shut.
There are big names mentioned, but we do not believe that the Haaland’s, Messi’s and Aguero’s will turn up in a Chelsea shirt this season, that would surprise everyone, and with Lukaku they have a quality forward to turn to in certain games and hopefully being able to keep him happy something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer struggled to do at Manchester United.
Embed from Getty ImagesTuchel has in previous windows signed some heavy names for Paris and he knows the top shelf of the transfer market, and of course how to monitorize this type of level, and that experience is valued in goal as he know shall take his next step in the future of Chelsea FC.
But on his was to winning more trophies he also needs to take care of the talent to his disposal at the club allready and you have so much talent that adding new players can be of a very high risk.
To use £100 million on a player when you have Tammy Abraham on the fringe and also know that Danny Drinkwater joined the club for a very high fee and been in the freezer since joining or just got a sniff on first team football by leaving the club on loan to Burnley and Aston Villa.
Embed from Getty ImagesWe do believe that the team on the squad is good enough to win Premier League and will be up there with probably the best defensive line in the game, and few will doubt the fact that the title chase this season will not just a be on way run by Man City finishing a few weeks after Christmas.
Thomas Tuchel got the fundament in place by a number of high quality signings done by Frank Lampard, not it’s time to find those two or three to really take a further step towards more silverware.
