In Focus, Teemu Pukki, Norwich City

Sometimes players goes under the radar and turns up like lightening strikes and without any notice. Pundits almost always overlook these players, some of them even stamps them as “not good enough” or “finished”.

Yes this guy is “Finish” and he was a player that last season scored 29 goals in the Championship and really wasn’t talked much about as a hot, new and fresh face in the Premier League.

He scored his first goal this season in the clash with Liverpool, in that opener at Anfield, despite losing 4-1, Norwich won the second half 1-0 with that wonderful strike from the “Finish” international. He followed up with three more goal in the next clash v. Newcastle United.

He has always been seen as a bright talent, and would probably have thought that his road to the top had come a bit sooner, but the start in La Liga with Sevilla might have given “doubters” a lot of belief that this was not really a player for the big events.

After just one first team league appearance for Sevilla, Pukki packed his bags and returned to Finland were he turned out for top club HJK. A few good performances made Schalke 04 interested and Pukki moved to Bundesliga. Not a regular choice with the Gelsenkirchen club and Celtic moved in for him, not really getting anywhere here either.

A return to Scandinavia and Danish club Brøndby lifted his confidence, probably used in the best way possible and scoring goals on a regular basis. An enjoyable period in Denmark with 55 goals in 133 league appearances opened the eyes of the player who again was in demand.

Last summer, Teemu, was a free agent and joined Norwich City, who did strike gold, getting a notorious goalscorer in his best age without paying a single penny in transfer fee, must be seen as one of the greatest deals done in modern football history.

We will see if Pukki can continue to impress in Premier League action, certainly the start has seen great promise and hopefully Daniel Farke and his Canaries will fly high as the surprise club this season.
