Jonas Hector, an introduction

1 FC Köln left back Jonas Hector is probably not living the dream of his life, being part of a desperate run to try to win their way back into the Bundesliga.

Hector is still very much part of the German national team and together with Thomas Muller, Tony Kroos and Manuel Neuer the most capped and experienced player in the squad. To see him in “zweite” is a bit strange, but with the current form of his club team, he will certainly be back.

He is a bit of a German Jamie Vardy, but in a very different role, playing in defense and as a left back. joining EffZeh from FC Auersmacher in 2010. He never looked back and has since played 190 league games and scored 10 goals.

Not many players can keep their form on the highest level when getting relegated but with Hector it’s different, he will be working hard to get EffZeh back to the top. A key result was the 4-1 win over rival St. Pauli and now on a straight promotion 2nd spot, just four points behind leaders Hamburg SV.

His international debut came in a game against “little” Gibraltar, and he got a good start and worked his way from that first game and today five years later being capped 42 times, remarkable and great.

He follows in the footsteps of other former 1 FC Köln greats such as Wolfgang Overath, Heinz Flohe, Hennes Weissweller (one of two Germans to manage Barcelona) and of course Bernd Schuster who all had great careers at both club and international level.

Solskjear defeat, Scholes win and Giggs in a pundit role, Man Utd legendary report

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suffered his first defeat as Manchester United manager, but that is overlooked as a fact when you see his run of games taking the team back in the top four of the Premier League.

PSG, surprised probably most fans, and they can fast turn as their dreams of the past don’t include the set back of Sir Alex. The problem is that you don’t collect bad memories only those who are good, and fans are strange that way.

They still love Ollie and he will for always be remembered for those wins and hopefully he can keep the points rolling in and secure a place in the top four, in front of London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, who are struggling a bit at the moment.

Paul Scholes, maybe a greater player than Ollie ever was, is in a different environment taking over the management position at Oldham Athletic and got of with a perfect start at home to Yeovil Town, winning 4-1. Scholes have the badges to manage top clubs and hopefully he will be on the run for much bigger events, hopefully.

Ryan Giggs, who we have not forgotten is the manager of Wales, is also a pundit for Norwegian television TV2, following the Premier League and Champions League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer never appeared for or in a pundit role while out of management, between his spells and Cardiff City and Molde.

The ball is round is a saying and certainly unpredictable, who would have thought of a newsroll like this in the past with the former greats Giggs and Scholes playing less shining roles and their former teammate Solskjaer running the reigns at their club Manchester United.

Paul Scholes has been a clear critic of former bosses such as David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, and now he had to start with a manager job at level four in English football, maybe it’s time to listen and learn, and not shoot those trying to win for your former club.

1.FC Köln, EffZeh report

EffZeh was relegated from Bundesliga after last season and they are now preparing for the 2nd part of the season to take place in “Zweite”.

They still have a great team with some very interesting players and to then be sitting 3rd is a bit behind the goal, but todays game against 2nd place St. Pauli can change this. EffZeh also have a game in hand, and with points gained, they will be in a direct promotion position.

Recently the club had a great tour to Mallorca to prepare the 2nd part and they are of course positive under the coaching of Markus Anfang who joined the club in front of the new season.

EffZeh still have a lot of job to do, but with Jhon Cordoba up front, Timo Horn in goal, Jonas Hector in the back, they should be solid enough to win their way back to the top. Captain Matthias Lehmann is also a player to rate highly and one to credit.

Attacking midfielder Louis Schaub is one we would like to mention as well, with 9 assists he is leading that table this season. The Austrian international joined from Rapid Vienna in front of the season.

Another player who is doing great in the assist table is Dominic Drexler. The 28 year old is a player that previously played for lower level teams and also been playing in Danish football. He has previously played for Holstein Kiel and Greuther Furth among his former clubs.

Tonight St. Pauli will come visiting and hopefully Anfang will be able to bring in three points, pass his opponent in the table and work on that and be able to follow HSV back to the Bundesliga.
