DATE: 29.03.2018 - SOCCERVOICE - BLOG - SEASON 2017-18

Gareth Southgate has a major dilemma in front of him, picking the right squad for the World Cup and after that picking the best team

We will try to go a bit backwards in find the best list of players to include. To have players with previous experience from a World Cup is always and advantage, but as we all know the England team is going throug a huge generation change.

If we roll back to the last three World Cup's you will find some interesting facts. Twelve years ago England competed in the World Cup in Germany. You still have a number of players that are professional today.

Twelve players from the 2006 squad are still in the game, Theo Walcott, Aaron Lennon, Stewart Downing,  Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Peter Crouch, Scott Carson, Stewart Downing, Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, John Terry and Ashley Cole were all in the group.
