Arsenal on the brink, stars on the way out, are they feeling blue ?

DATE: 11.01.2018 - SOCCERVOICE - NEWS - SEASON 2017-18

Yesterday Arsenal drew 0-0 v. Chelsea in the EFL Cup semi-finals first leg, on Sunday their FA Cup dream stopped in the 3rd round

They are top six in the Premier League and of course in reach of a Champions League qualification spot, but still a team being described a few years back as the only contender for the title alongside Manchester United.

If Wenger manages to get tings right in the return match at home to Chelsea in the EFL Cup, he could get his hands on that trophy, something he has not managed before. They are also in for a big chance to reach the final of the Europa League facing Ostersund in the next round.

Arsene Wenger composed one of the best teams football have seen, during the days of Vieira, Henry and Bergkamp, really fantastic football to watch and also being able to win major trophies and reach the top cup finals.

Wenger still have a number of quality players in his squad. Ozil, Sanchez and Koscielny are among the top players around, but with two of them both being seen as players soon to leave the club, it might be difficult to get new players in that can replace the stars.

A new face is in this January, 20 year old Greek defender Konstatinos Mavropanos. This must be looked at as a player for the future and one not really being described as a signing for a recent chase of a league title.

There are always young and exciting prospects coming up at Arsenal, but so far no one is really showing the skills that makes them regulars in a first team chasing titles. Holding, Chambers and Xhaka er all prospects but not yet taking the leadership in the team.

A number of players such as Per Mertesacker, Petr Cech, Santi Cazorla and Mathieu Debuchy are all coming to an age that makes them uncertain long term, and they are probably sooner or later on the way out.

Few believe that the two regulars Cech and Mertesacker no longer have the quality needed to be among the top teams. Wenger is in for a real challenge trying to build a new squad of quality that can compete, as Arsenal should, among the best clubs in Europe.

The next game coming up is the away clash with Bournemouth on Sunday in the Premier League. Not an easy task, but should be possible to win and pick up three points. There are so many online betting websites out there.
