J.K. Rowling could not written this "Potter" story any better, magic made real in Swedish football miracle

DATE: 25.08.2016 - SOCCERVOICE - NEWSDESK

Yesterday a miracle happened. English coach Graham Potter will be the only one from his nation to coach a team in Europe this season

Ostersund SK is a club Mr Potter has taken from level four in Swedish football and up to the top, currently 8th in the league, but their adventure in Europe is one to talk about in the terms of Harry Potter magic.

J.K. Rowling would probably not be able to write this any better, it's something that shows how unpredictable football can be if play your cards right and have knowledge on how to build a group and a team that fits the pattern of your style.

Graham Potter had no real management experience from professional football when he in 2011 took over a club at level four in Swedish football. in just five years he has taken the club up division by divison and the icing of the cake was to qualify for the Europa League group stages.

The win against Galatasaray in the 2nd round really started the dream. Winning that one as well 2-0 at home on the 13th of July made you think twice and starting to believe that anyone could be defeated at home.

So who is this "Potter" simular to the carachter "Harry", not in look, but in managing unbelievable happenings, and this is one we would not ever see in a book or a film, it's happening in the middle of Sweden.

Graham Potter was born i Solihull, Birmingham. Played professional football at clubs such as Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City. Most of career as a player was a nomadic type of life, spending the longest time at York City, staying there for three years.

Potter played as a central defender in the teams he presented and he hang up his boots as a professional in 2005, after a short period with Macclesfield Town. In total he played 320 league games for all his clubs.

To manage this magic climb from nowhere and into Europe, you need to find something special and the team bonding, they way you manage the psycological part of the job makes a massive impact.

Potter is known for taking players out of their comfort zone, and give them tasks that you would never think a footballer would be open for, like setting up a play and doing paintings, but this is probably also one way to take away the focus on the real factors that makes a great football team.

The work done out on the training ground, the way the team is build and the players playing are a mixed group of cultures and nations. English born forward Jamie Hopcutt joined the club after being picked up from a trial arranged in the area of Birmingham by Ostersund.

Hopcutt has been playing in the team from the lower leagues and into Europe. He never got the chance at York City and made the move which could be a blessing in disguise for the player that made the move to Sweden.

We love fairytails in football and this is one you would believe only happend in stories of J.K. Rowling. We wish Graham Potter all the best as he follow other English coaches with great results in Swedish football, Bob Houghton and Roy Hodgson, who also made great thing happen.
