Andy Carroll will wear the famous
number 9 shirt at Newcastle. Carroll has been described as one of the
most talented young prospects in the game.
He was a key to Newcastle's promotion and the way Chris Hughton now is
building on last seasons success makes every Newcastle fan hopefulll for
a good return to the Premier League.
Carroll made his Newcastle debut at the age of 17. He became the
youngest Newcastle player ever to appear in an European Cup game when he
came on as a sub against Palermo in November 2006.
He has played both at England U.19 and U.21 level and by many described
as the ideal striker type. He is 6ft 4in, and a player that England boss
Fabio Capello should consider for his next squad.
Still only 21 years of age, and still far from a finished article, but
hopefully close to making his real break through in the Premier League
and for England.
Look out for the Newcastle number 9. The names of Malcolm MacDonald,
Alan Shearer and Jack Milburn will always be attached to this shirt.
Andy Carroll could be the next England international who makes "9" proud.
