Arsenal will have to
strengthen their squad in front of the new season and the Ajax trio
could be what it takes to bring back the Premier League trophy to North
London.
Arsene Wenger has not been able to find a proper goalscorer and
with Eduardo on the way out, reported to be close to a £ 6 million move
to Shakhtar Donetsk, Luis Suarez could be the ideal player to bring in.
The goalkeeper situation is one that has troubled Arsenal since Jens
Lehmann left. Manuel Almunia is not a bad goalkeeper but not the
one you would see as the ideal first choice if you will battle for a
Champions League final or winning the Premier League.
Maarten Stekelenburg played fantastic in the World Cup and gained
wonderfull experience from South Africa. Wenger would be pleased if he
finally could settle the goalkeeper situation and stop all talk about "the
problem".
Gregory van der Wiel was another of the more unknown Dutch
players that made a great impression during the World Cup. A move to
Arsenal would suit his career and make the young defender a more mature
player.
The fact that Ajax manager Martin Jol is close to leaving the
club and said in an interview yesterday that he was worried about the
financial situation at the Amsterdam club, could make it even more
certain that the World Cup trio will leave for Arsenal.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger knows that raiding Europe for "football
babies" are not enough to win the big trophies in football.
