Latest transfer update, who will
win the battle

Man City looks as the winner of the transfer battle so far. They have added quality players such as David Silva, Yaya Toure, and Jerome Boateng to their squad. Arsenal and Manchester United could also have striked gold in the transfer market this summer, article continues

Man City manager Roberto Mancini will make his squad even stronger this season and he has managed to sign players that will balance his squad.

Jerome Boateng can play both in the centre of defence and at left back and looks like a finished article. The addition of David Silva and Yaya Toure makes it easy to believe that Roberto Mancini will have a much more balanced squad when the season starts.

There will be more signings and James Milner and Fernando Torres will both be in the picture and have allready been linked with the Manchester club.

Arsenal will be a strong force next season. The signings of the defender Laurent Koscielny and forward Marouane Chamakh will be followed with maybe one or two more signings.

They are still in the race of Joe Cole but will be strongly challenged by London rival Tottenham. The fact that they now looks certain to keep Cesc Fabregas is fantastic news.

Arsene Wenger could lose Sol Campbell to Sunderland or Celtic and the fact that Philippe Senderos has joined Fulham will not affect anything. If William Gallas leaves it might a bigger loss.

Chelsea released Michael Ballack, Juliano Belletti and Joe Cole. They will not stop midfielder Deco in his attempt to find a new club in Brazil. Four experienced players with qualities needed in a squad.

The only new player at Stamford Bridge so far is Israel international Yossi Benayoun from Liverpool. Benayoun will be an interesting signing and will add quality to the Chelsea squad.

Chelsea looks certain to make one or two signings to fill the gap after their released players. Fernando Torres has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but it will probably not happen.

Losing out on David Silva and still doubts about a couple of their players might not be the best for a club that has high expectations in front of next season.

Liverpool appointed Roy Hodgson as their new manager and his first job is to convince both Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard that it will be wise for both players to stay at Anfield.

Javier Mascherano is linked with a move to Inter Milan and could leave. Inter must pay a fee in the region of £ 15 million to get the Argentinian and that money could be used to sign one or two quality players.

Milan Jovanovic is the only first team signing so far and he will down the pecking order up front. A player that must impress in every game or be just a cover for the other forwards likely to start games.

West Ham midfielder Scott Parker will be a target for Hodgson if Mascherano leaves.

Liverpool underachieved last season and Hodgson will if he manage to keep all his players manage to bring the club back in the Champions League positions next season.

Yossi Benayoun has left for a chance at Chelsea. This is not a departure that will make a difference or in any way weak the Liverpool squad.

Tottenham has so far not been involved in any transfer action. Eidur Gudjohnsen looks likely to rejoin Tottenham for next season and so far the only player close to a move to White Hart Lane.

Joe Cole will have wage demands that Tottenham never will accept and the English international is more likely to see in an Arsenal kit next season. Uruguay internationals Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez looks unlikely to move to Spurs, which has been a rumour.

Tottenham could sell players such as Roman Pavlyuschenko and Robbie Keane to finance moves for other players. Tottenham have a very competetive squad so it could be that they can start next season without doing any big transfer moves this summer.

Manchester United lost out on the big titles last season. Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling are so far signed. Both of them young players with a bright future but not players that will be the difference between winning or losing titles next season.

Man Utd is linked with a number of top names and one or two new bodies could find the way to Old Trafford before the season starts.

Sir Alex has his own ideas and knows how to bring forward new players but so far it looks as if they will be in a struggle to reach the levels of previous seasons.

Everton will be challenging the Champions League contenders with some very interesting signings this summer. A key to Everton success is to keep players such as Steven Pienaar, Tim Cahill and Phil Jagielka fit. They are all fantastic players and they make Everton a contender in the race for many titles next season.

Magaye Gueye, Jermaine Beckford and Joao Silva are three new faces that will give David Moyes more choices in several positions and they will make the squad much stronger.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill went close to many titles last season. They moved James Milner into a central midfield position and he filled the gap after Gareth Barry in an excellent way.

Nothing has so far happened at Aston Villa. They have released Wilfred Bouma, but that will not affect anything with him just filling a fringe role in his last two seasons at the club.

The key is to keep all the best players and if they decide to let James Milner leave for Man City they must be clever to find his replacement. O'Neill is a great manager but a bit predictable in his transfer additions.

Villa will be up there, because they have a strong squad allready. We don't expect many changes at Villa Park this summer most positions are covered.
