The American way, the road to hell ?  let us have yellow and green

English league clubs have in the past been bought up by foreign business men. Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa are all owned by Americans. Constant frustration among fans, demonstrations and the hope of local people taking controll, article continues

Manchester United fans are not happy with their current owners, and they show their disgust by using yellow and green coloured scarfs. Even David Beckham used the scarf when he was back at Old Trafford with AC Milan earlier this year.

Despite winning everything possible for almost 20 years, Man Utd fans are not satisfied. Liverpool fans are also against their owners, despite winning the Champions League final and being among the best clubs in Europe.

The money used on new players by Rafael Benitez, might be loaned, but the men in charge are still responsible and have to deal with the depth in the end.

Liverpool was in the Europa League semi-final, but failed on the last hurdle against Athletico Madrid.

Why are these fans not satisfied ?

Aston Villa is at the moment among the top 6 or 7 teams in England and that has not always been. Villa fans experienced 2nd and 3rd tier football in the 70's and 80's.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has been given more money than any other Villa manager in history, and he has managed to lift Villa into a Champions League contender.

There are not a lot of noice at Villa, and Randy Lerner is by many rated as a good owner, with the former "hate object" Doug Ellis still not forgotten.

Clubs lower in the league system or in the wrong half of the Premier League table are constantly chasing foreign investors.

Clubs like Leeds, Charlton, Norwich, Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday have not been owned by American business men, but their decline and fall in the league system is disastrous.

The fact that clubs are wiling to sell to foreign business men, and by that give Americans also a chance to buy in, makes it difficult to understand why fans at clubs like Liverpool and Man Utd, and even a few voices at Aston Villa can't see what their options are.

No one never stopped English ownership, no one complains when you lift the Champions Leauge trophies and no one will, if they think a bit, believe that the American Way, really is the road to hell.
