Mourinho, Milito and Facchetti, Inter Milan a story of two halfs

Jose Mourinho and Diego Milito are the hottest names of the Inter today. Inter is back at the very highest level both in Europe and Italy, a certain Giacinto Facchetti comes to mind

Facchetti joined Inter in 1960, at the age of 18. Facchetti started his career as a forward but will for always be remembered as a brilliant central defender both for italy and Inter.

Facchetti played in the 1964 and 1965 European Cup finals and must be described as the symbol of Inter during the 60's and 70's.

Facchetti was capped 94 times in a period from 1963 to 1977, with the highlights winning the 1968 European Championships and ending runners-up in the 1970 World Cup finals.

Facchetti retired as a player in 1978, spending 18 years at the club, playing a total of 629 games and scoring 75 goals. But his relationship with the club continued off the field. He served the club in different positions as club ambassadeur, vice president, and at last as club president in 2004.

Facchetti died after a long illness in 2006, he was 64 years old. Inter decided, in honour to Facchetti, to retire shirt number three in his honour.

In 2008 a square in the town of Cesano Maderno, Milano was renamed in the honour of Giacinto Facchetti.

Jose Mourinho will for always be remembered as a great hero at Inter, no matter what happens in Madrid today. He has done "The Double" domestically, and a trebble would be just fantastic.

Mourinho made a number of great signings in front of the season with Diego Milito, Wesley Schneider and Samuel Eto'o as the key men.

Milito has shined and no one has really missed Zlatan Ibrahimovic who they sold to Barcelona. Mourinho knows how to balance a football team and how to get the best out of every man.

Milito has in fact lived a life in the shadows of European football, before Mourinho signed him. Milito played in Argentina with Racing Club until 2004, when he was signed by Genoa.

Milito spent 3 years at Zaragoza, and he returned to Italian football in 2008, signing for a 2nd time for Genoa. His goal record is outstanding, he has scored 166 goals in 370 games, scoring 22 so far for inter in the league this season.

Inter has dominated Serie A in recent years, but not managed to win the Champions League since they won the European Cup in 1964, let's hope that Mourinho and Milito can manage to honour the great Giacinto Facchetti with a wonderfull win tonight.
