Patrick Vieira looks certain to join Man City on a loan to the end of the season. The Inter midfielder could give Roberto Mancini more routine in the centre of midfield, which has been a missing link under Mark Hughes.

Gordon Strachan is hunting Celtic and Rangers for new players. Rangers forward Kris Boyd, also wanted at Birmingham, is a close target, so are Celtic trio Willo Flood, Gary Caldwell and Barry Robson. Middlesbrough is also keen to sign Hull forward Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.

David James looks certain to join Tottenham, but he will get hard competition from Gomes. Ruud van Nistelrooy could also end up at White Hart Lane.

Victor Moses could join a European to club with Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea all reported to be interested in the wing wizard.
