Javier Mascherano ready to commit future to Liverpool -
Liverpool
lost their battle to keep Xavi Alonso, but the job to keep Javier
Mascherano at Anfield looks as a winner. To keep the Argentinian at
Anfield is vital to the future of Liverpool FC.
Rafael Benitez is under
pressure after a difficult start for Liverpool in the Premier League.
The fact that the club also missed the chance to go further in the
Champions League was also a massive blow.
Benitez is safe at Anfield, and he recently signed a new deal. The job
to keep his best players is now a priority. Javier Mascherano joined
Liverpool from West Ham in 2007. First on loan and later for fee
reported to be £ 18.6 million.
Mascherano (25) has so far played 55 times for Argentina and will be an
important player for his country in the World Cup taking place in South
Africa this summer.
Liverpool is eager to stop all speculations about a move to Spain and
Barcelona. Liverpool have priced the player out of reach and Benitez
believes that a new contract can be signed.
Mascherano played his first game for Liverpool in February 2007 against
Sheffield United and has since then played 73 league games and scored 1
goal.
