Uwe Rösler played for
Man City from 1994 to 1998 and became a great profile while at the club.
Uwe (41) played 153 games for City and scored 50 goals.
Uwe has been involved in Norwegian football for the last 7 years after
joining Lillestrom, first as a player in 2002. He scored 10 goals in 11
games for LSK, before he had to retire due to a cancer illness.
Uwe recovered and took over as coach for LSK in 2005. He led LSK to two
successive 4th places in the League and also took them to the final of
the Norwegian cup in 2005, and the Royal League final in 2006. Both
finals ended in defeat.
These results failed to satisfy the LSK board and him and his assistant
Gunnar Halle (previously with Oldham, Leeds and Bradford) were both
sacked.
He was appointed manager at Viking Stavanger and switched places with
Tom Nordlie who went the opposite way. His first season at Viking was a
great success ending in 3rd place, but since then results have declined
and Rosler left his position at Viking last month.
Another former Man City player, Aage Hareide, is now the man to get
Viking back to their old heights. A club that has a long and great
tradion and was the best club in Norway during the 70's, winning the
league in 72,73,74,75 and 79.
Hareide resigned as manager of the Norwegian national team almost a year
ago and has since then trained Swedish club Orgryte.
He did a great job with the Gothenburg club. He took over after the
summer break when the club was stuck at the bottom of the table and
almost managed to save them from relegation.
Hareide has before his national team coaching been at clubs such as
Brondby, Helsingborg, Rosenborg and Molde. He will always be the man
known for spotting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when he signed him for Molde
from 2nd division club Clausenengen.
Hareide was not successfull as manager of Norway. He never managed to
qualify for the World Cup or European Championships while in charge.
He is known for his great results at club level and hopefully Viking
will get back up to the top with the former Manchester City defender in
charge.
