John Toshack is defending his tenure as Wales boss, despite seeing his
team lose 7 of his last 10 games. Daily Express reports today that
Toshack is under pressure.
Toshack became Wales boss in 2004 and has not managed to bring Wales
forward during those years. Wales has not played in the World Cup since
1958, and never reached the final stages of the European Championships.
Despite being a country who have had the best goalkeeper in the World (Neville
Southall), the best forward in British football during the 80's (Ian
Rush) and the wonderfull and very experienced winger from Man Utd (Ryan
Giggs), results haven't been the best.
The current group of players include top forward Craig Bellamy, top
defender James Collins and young talents such as Gareth Bale and Aaron
Ramsey. Toshack has not been able to make the best out of his current
selections.
But if you look at the group of players Toshack can pick from, you will
not be able to find enough quality to etablish a team that looks certain
to qualify for the World Cup's.
The next qualification is for the Euro 2012. A tournement that will
include 24 teams. This makes it possible for smaller nations to able to
set goals and targets to reach such a great event.
