Liverpool midfielder tracked
by Arsenal
Benitez and Wenger in fight over Spanish international

Daily Star reports that Arsenal will launch a bid to bring Liverpool
midfielder Xabi Alonso to London. The Spanish international was close to
a move to Juventus last summer, but nothing happened.
Alonso is rated highly by Benitez, but in his attempt to get his hands
on the Premier League trophy some hard decissions must be made at
Anfield.
This rumour would not have hit the net if everything was rosy and that
Alonso still believe he has a long term future at the club. Liverpool
might need more tackling power in the centre of midfield and Alonso
could be the player under pressure.
Wenger believe that Alonso could be the ideal player alongside Fabregas
in the heart of the Arsenal midfield.
