West Ham and Norwich targets vital for
Leicester promotion push

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson knows that he has players in his
squad that will be targeted from other clubs higher in the league
system, two of them could be vital for Leicester City's promotion push
Norwich City manager Glenn Roeder tempted Leicester with an £ 500 000
offer for their forward Steve Howard. This is not enough to land the former
Derby and Luton player.
Joe Mattock is one of the most talented young left footed defenders in
England. Mattock, still only 18, has allready made his England U.21 debut.
West Ham, Liverpool and Everton are all linked with the player, but so far
City have stopped every attempt.
Howard and Mattock are both vital to a City promotion push and the
pre-season have been great for the foxes. Good results against Championship
teams such as Crystal Palace and Birmingham will give City confidence in
front of the season opener against MK Dons next Saturday.
Leicester have done a few changes in the squad with the following major
moves:
In: Tunchev (CSKA Sofia), Morrison (Cambridge), Adams (Bury), Dyer (MK
Dons), Hobbs (Liverpool - loan), Gilbert (Arsenal - loan)
Out: Clapham (Released), Douglas (Released), Hume (Barnsley), Stearman
(Wolves), McAuley (Ipswich)
Most likely line-up in season opener:
Henderson - Gilbert, Tunchev, Hobbs, Mattock - Oakley (c), Gradel, King,
Dyer - Howard, Fryatt
Leicester City is expected to let defender James Chambers leave the club and
join newly promoted Doncaster Rovers, but Chambers is far away from a first
team starting position and not a player that the club will miss heavilly.
Leeds United and Leicester City are the bookies favourites to get promoted,
but we all know what a difficult division League 1 can be.
