Martin O'Neill, could he resign at Aston
Villa, as he did at Leicester ?

Recent weeks speculations about Gareth Barry's future at Aston Villa,
and the fact that the player will leave the club, could it lead to
a Martin O'Neill resignation ?
News of the World reports that Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has
accepted defeat in the battle to keep Gareth Barry, after claiming that the
player would stay at Aston Villa just a week ago.
Aston Villa have under Martin O'Neill again climbed the ladder and will push
for a Champions Leauge spot next season, with former Champions League
finalist John Carew as their front runner.
Barry was a key player at Aston Villa and hopefully the signing of Steven
Sidwell can be enough to stop a decrease in performances. Sidwell struggled
last season at Chelsea, but we all know who he competed with to get into the
team.
Martin O'Neill never really experienced this problem at Celtic, but knows
how it was at Leicester City, after losing both Kasey Keller and Emile
Heskey in the same way.
Keller told O'Neill after only three seasons at Leicester that he wanted to
move on and left on a Bosman to Raya in Spain. Emile Heskey turned down
several contract proposals from Leicester and O'Neill and finally decided to
move and join Liverpool for a fee of £ 11 million.
Martin O'Neill made fantastic progress at Leicester as he has done at Aston
Villa and with Celtic, but he could maybe be tempted to move on to a bigger
stage if Aston Villa in the future can't manage key players to stay at the
club.
Could Martin O'Neill be tempted to move on if other clubs in Europe decides
to try to tempt him with other offers as Everton, Leeds and Celtic did, when
O'Neill was with Leicester City.
Martin O'Neill won the League Cup twice while at Leicester and he won the
League, The League Cup, the FA Cup and reached the UEFA Cup final while in
charge of Celtic. The man will probably not be satisfied seeing Villa in a
6th or 7th position in the Premier League, he is hungry for honours.
